If you found yourself short a few forks, spoons and knives this past holiday season like I did think about either adding to your existing set or purchasing new flat wear. It’s nice to have forks that have straight tines and be able to set a table with a complete, matching silverware set. It’s very inconvenient to run to the kitchen to wash forks or spoons, so that you have enough to serve dessert, but who hasn’t done that? I’m planning ahead a little now, so the next time I have a dinner party, even an informal one, I have enough flatware. I want each individual table I set to have matching flatware. All of the tables needn’t match each other, but that would be nice.

I’ve been reading up, making comparisons, and I know what I want. I’m looking for stainless steel 18/10 vs. 18/8 flatware like what you would find with the Oneida “Aquarius” 5pc Place Setting flatware. The 18/10 will have less nickel added to the steel composition and have more luster, and its dishwasher safe. Look for something that will match your personality or go well with your existing dishes. Keep in mind too that you need to order enough place settings to have extras or select a pattern that has a lifetime guarantee that it will not be discontinued and you can add to it as needed. I’m going to order a hostess set to go with it because I’ll need serving pieces. You use forks, spoons etc. multiple times a day. Probably more than almost anything else in your house, so why scrimp. Good quality, attractive place settings can last a lifetime. I found several place settings I can picture on my table, so for me it’s just a matter of choosing a pattern. I think an attractive table is just as important as attractive, good tasting food.
