One of the more impressive bonsai trees is the beautiful Juniper bonsai tree, or the juniper procumbens nana. This tree was made popular by the movie Karate Kid, and since it was featured in that film, many people see it as the standard type of bonsai tree. It’s one of the larger bonsai trees out there, and it makes a very nice housewarming gift, wedding gift, or birthday gift for anyone who loves bonsai. It can form the centerpiece of a bonsai collection, and it looks amazing anywhere you choose to display it. Many consider it one of the best bonsai to give as a gift, in fact. It’s also a very versatile and hardy bonsai. This makes it a good bonsai for beginners since it doesn’t need as much attention as some other trees do.

The Juniper bonsai is not a flowering bonsai, but it does feature very long branches that can be trained quite easily. You’ll find that you can use wires to get the branches to grow in any direction you want for the most part, although some Junipers are a bit stiff. You should do your pruning in either the fall or spring, not summer, and you might want to wear gloves since the needles are a bit prickly.
